Visa powers Norwegian company Dintero as a new acquirer, driving payments innovation and competition
Dintero, a Norwegian fintech company, today announced its official launch as Norway’s first new acquirer in nearly two decades. As part of this significant market entry, Dintero has become a principal Visa acquiring member, a strategic partnership set to significantly enhance competition and accelerate payments innovation for merchants across Norway and the Nordics. Dintero is also licensed to support merchants throughout the EU/EEA.
Dintero officially went live as a principal Visa acquiring member in April 2025, demonstrating its commitment to offering full Visa solutions. This approach underscores Dintero's dedication to providing merchants with robust, secure, and future-ready payment processing capabilities.
Dintero is rapidly building out its innovative offerings, already supporting network tokenization since Q2 2025, with plans to launch Visa Click to Pay in November as well as unified commerce and Visa Direct in 2026. These advancements will provide merchants with enhanced security, improved conversion rates, and faster payouts.
"We are proud to support Dintero as Norway’s first new acquirer in over 20 years. This milestone brings more innovation and healthy competition to the market, empowering merchants with secure, future-ready payment solutions that benefit consumers and the local economy”, says Bente Iren Josefsen, Country Manager for Visa in Norway.
This collaboration strengthens Visa’s role in enabling future-ready payment solutions and supports the growth of local fintech innovators.
"This milestone marks a new era for payments in Norway. As the first new Norwegian acquirer in over two decades, we are committed to driving innovation and offering merchants advanced, competitive solutions," said Daro Navaratnam, CEO of Dintero. "Our partnership with Visa is crucial to this mission, enabling us to deliver cutting-edge services like Split Payout and network tokenization, and empowering businesses to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital economy. The recent Vy deal is a testament to our capabilities and our focus on merchant-centric solutions."
The company has already demonstrated its innovative prowess, recently securing a significant deal with Vy, Norway’s national rail and bus provider. This partnership highlights Dintero’s ability to deliver advanced solutions, including its unique split payout functionality, which simplifies complex transactions by enabling a single payment for multi-modal travel while automatically distributing funds to all involved parties.
