How to complete orders in WooCommerce

Updated:
May 13, 2025

We recommend all of our WooCommerce customers to handle orders directly in WooCommerce. This ensures that the order status is correctly synced with your WMS, TMS, and other systems, making your workflow as smooth and efficient as possible.

When should you complete an order?

You should capture an order once the goods are ready for shipment. Capturing means that you’re charging the customer for the order — either fully or partially (see our guide on partial captures).

⚠️ Please note:If you complete a capture in Dintero Backoffice instead of WooCommerce, the order status in WooCommerce may not update automatically.

Full Capture (WooCommerce)

To capture the full amount of an order directly in WooCommerce, follow these steps:

  1. Go to WooCommerce > Orders
  2. Open the order you want to capture.
  3. Check that the order status is Processing or On hold. (If not, read this article). These statuses indicate that the payment has been authorized, but is not captured yet.
  4. Change the order status to Completed (unless you want to do a partial capture).
  5. This will automatically trigger a full capture of the authorized amount through Dintero. (If you get an error, read this article)
  6. The order is now marked as Completed, and the customer will be charged ✅

Capture directly in Dintero Backoffice (backup method)

If for some reason you need to manually capture the order via Dintero Backoffice (not recommended as standard practice), follow these steps:

  1. Go to Payments in Dintero Backoffice
  2. Search for the order number
  3. Click Capture
  4. Confirm the full amount and click Capture **** NOK/SEK/EUR
